Amaravati, Feb 24 (NationPress) YSRCP President and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, on Monday condemned the TDP-led coalition government for mocking democracy by stripping his party of its official opposition status.

During a gathering of legislators following a walk-out amid the Governor’s address during the initial day of the Budget session, he asserted that they participated in the session to unveil the government's actions.

He asserted that the YSRCP serves as the sole opposition voice within the Assembly, indicating that having official opposition status would ensure equal debate time. "By denying us this status, they are evading our rightful platform," he stated.

The YSRCP leader stressed the necessity for a determined struggle against the government due to escalating public dissatisfaction. He encouraged party members to view their current situation as a battlefield, emphasizing that each action should aim for victory.

Underlining the significance of unwavering action on community matters, he called for genuine and dedicated efforts to advocate for the people's interests.

"Victory is guaranteed if we align with the people and remain in their midst," he remarked, warning against any withdrawal in the fight for public welfare. He reassured party leaders that there was no reason to fear the existing government, framing this as a chance to demonstrate the party’s strength as the opposition.

Jagan Mohan Reddy highlighted that consistent effort for the party and the public would lead to a promising future.

“A year goes by in the blink of an eye,” he noted, referring to discussions about potential simultaneous elections, which might lead to earlier polls. This situation, he argued, emphasizes the importance of no compromise on public issues and fearless representation for the people. "Our commitment to values and integrity in politics has enabled us to navigate numerous challenges and reach this point," he remarked.

Jagan Mohan Reddy clarified that his remarks are substantiated and devoid of accusations or slander. With limited opportunities to speak in the Assembly, he relies on press conferences to keep the public informed while urging the party to capitalize on its substantial majority in the Legislative Council.

As MLAs and MLCs alerted him to the unfair cancellation of housing titles, he stated: "During our administration, we issued 31 lakh housing titles without discrimination. If anyone fails to construct a home, the government should grant them one instead of revoking titles in retaliation against the underprivileged." He pledged to take legal action if such cancellations continue.
