Amaravati, Aug 17 (NationPress) Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh urged former Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party leader Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to apologise to the nation for his absence during the national flag hoisting ceremony on Independence Day.
He described the act of the YSRCP leader as a disrespect to the nation’s freedom struggle.
"Neglecting the flag hoisting of our tricolour on Independence Day is not merely a display of arrogance; it is a profound insult to the sacrifices made for our country's freedom," Lokesh expressed through the social media platform 'X'.
As the general secretary of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and son of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Lokesh insisted that Jagan must apologise to the nation.
The TDP has previously condemned Jagan Mohan Reddy for not participating in the national flag hoisting during the 79th Independence Day celebration.
Senior TDP figure and Sarvepalli MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy questioned Jagan's failure to acknowledge the significance of Independence Day, despite his position as a political leader.
"What is with this level of arrogance?" the former minister inquired on 'X', reminding Jagan of the countless lives lost in the fight for independence.
“Just because you are disheartened by the Pulivendula ZPTC results, does that mean you forget a national festival? This is a significant blemish on your political career," Chandramohan Reddy highlighted.
Another prominent leader, Ponnur MLA Dhulipalla Narendra Kumar, accused Jagan of showing disrespect to the national flag.
He claimed that Jagan's omission to unfurl the flag belittled the sacrifices of freedom fighters.
"Though the YSRCP's defeat in the Pulivendula ZPTC byelection might be a source of Jagan's frustration, his refusal to hoist the national flag reveals his mental state," Narendra Kumar stated.
The YSR Congress party faced losses in the byelections for Pulivendula and Ontimitta Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies (ZPTCs) in Jagan’s home district of YSR Kadapa.
