Ranchi, March 25 (NationPress) Eight individuals, comprising five jawans from the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB), have been detained by the state CID related to a 'paper leak' during a recruitment examination organized by the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) in September of the previous year, as per official reports.

Despite the arrests, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) asserts that there is currently no direct or physical evidence indicating that the original question papers were compromised.

"Investigations revealed that a gang was collecting money under the pretense of supplying question papers to candidates prior to the exam, which fueled rumors and suspicion among the public concerning the legitimacy of the paper leak," the CID stated.

The eight arrested individuals are associated with this gang, according to the CID's statement.

Approximately 3.04 lakh candidates participated in the Jharkhand General Graduate Level Combined Competitive Examination (JGGLCCE), held on September 21 and 22.

A faction of candidates has been protesting against the JGGLCCE examination, which was intended for recruitment to junior-level government positions, claiming that extensive irregularities occurred during the examination.

The individuals apprehended include Kundan Kumar alias Mantu, Robin Kumar, Akhilesh Kumar, Gaurav Kumar, and Abhilash Kumar (all five being IRB jawans), along with Ram Niwas Rai (an Assam Rifles jawan), Niwas Kumar Rai (a Home Guard jawan), and Kaviraj alias Motu, as stated in the SIT report.

"Currently, there is no direct or physical evidence of the original question papers being leaked. The investigation is ongoing," it added.
