Belagavi (Karnataka), Oct 22 (NationPress) In a significant turn of events, Yathindra Siddaramaiah, the son of Karnataka's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, has declared that his father is approaching the final chapter of his political journey.
He emphasized that during this pivotal time, Minister for PWD Satish Jarkiholi will step forward to steer those who advocate for scientific and progressive principles.
This declaration comes amidst swirling rumors regarding a potential shift in leadership and ongoing talks about a power-sharing arrangement within Karnataka.
Yathindra made these comments at the idol unveiling ceremony of the esteemed figure Kanakadasa in Kappalaguddi village, located in the Raibag taluk of Belagavi district.
He stated, “At this moment, my father is at the culmination of his political career. He is in the concluding phase of his political life. At this juncture, Minister for PWD Satish Jarkiholi will assume responsibility and provide leadership for those who embrace scientific and progressive ideologies.”
“Minister Satish Jarkiholi will also guide everyone who supports the principles of the Congress party. I firmly believe he will exemplify true leadership in this respect. Leaders genuinely committed to their ideologies are rare. Minister Satish Jarkiholi has taken on that responsibility, and I urge him to persist in this direction,” Yathindra further expressed.
These remarks have ignited discussions in political circles as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has asserted his intent to finish his term and lead the party into the next Assembly elections. Conversely, MLAs and supporters of Deputy Chief Minister and State Congress President D.K. Shivakumar are vocally advocating for Shivakumar to be granted the Chief Ministership, citing his contributions to the party.
They claim a power-sharing agreement exists between Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar to equally divide the chief ministerial term. As the Congress-led government approaches the halfway mark of its term in November, speculations about a “November revolution” have intensified.
Deputy CM Shivakumar has been actively visiting temples, stating that the final decision will rest with the high command. Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah’s faction insists that the choice should reflect the opinions of the MLAs.
In the interim, leaders from the Karnataka BJP continue to label Siddaramaiah as the “outgoing Chief Minister.”
