This incident follows a similar tragedy on March 1, where at least three people lost their lives and six were injured due to a highway crash in northern Afghanistan's Jawzjan province. The collision involved two speeding vehicles that crashed in the Hadbakhshi area along the Jawzjan-Sari Pul highway, resulting in the deaths of both drivers and a female passenger, while six others, including two children, were injured.

Road safety remains a significant concern in war-torn Afghanistan, where deteriorating road conditions, reckless driving, and insufficient safety protocols contribute to frequent fatal incidents.
Earlier in the year, on January 31, another road accident in Baghlan province claimed three lives and left two injured when two fast-moving vehicles collided in the Qala-e-Baday area of Dushi district. Similarly, on January 29, a vehicle in northern Badakhshan province veered off a mountainside and fell into a ravine, resulting in two deaths and one injury.
