Vientiane, June 28 (NationPress) As persistent rainfall continues to drench Laos, river levels are surging, leading to flooding in multiple villages. This situation has heightened public anxiety as communities prepare for an impending risk of extensive flooding.
Prolonged heavy rains have caused rivers to swell, resulting in widespread flooding across numerous villages. Areas in Meun district, Vientiane province have experienced hours of relentless downpour.
Numerous residents have taken to social media, sharing videos and images that depict waterlogged streets throughout Vientiane.
Chaipaserd, a local resident, noted that every rainy season brings flooding to various villages nationwide, causing significant destruction to homes, schools, and transportation networks, thereby severely disrupting daily life. He expressed grave concern regarding the recent flooding in Vientiane province.
"The ongoing rain presents a stressful situation for everyone in at-risk areas, especially those in low-lying neighborhoods," Chaipaserd stated during an interview with Xinhua news agency on Saturday. "Floods can occur unexpectedly, and their impact can be catastrophic."
