New Delhi, July 10 (NationPress) The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), recognized as the nation’s premier life insurer, has announced an impressive 14.6% annual increase in individual premiums for June this year, as per the data shared by the Life Insurance Council.
This government-owned entity showcased a growth rate surpassing the private life insurers, which recorded a growth of 12.12% during the same period.
In June, LIC gathered Rs 22,082.37 crore in group premiums, a slight decrease from Rs 23,731.13 crore in June 2024. The total new business premium experienced a decline of 3.43%, dropping from Rs 28,366.87 crore in June 2024 to Rs 27,395 crore in June 2025.
During the month, LIC issued a total of 12.49 lakh policies, down from 14.65 lakh in June of the previous year. In the individual policies sector, 12.48 lakh policies were issued compared to 14.62 lakh in June 2024, while the group policies totaled 1,290.
The cumulative premium collected by LIC from April to June 2025 reached Rs 59,410.69 crore, an increase from Rs 57,440.89 crore in the same quarter last year. The individual premium segment recorded Rs 12,503.68 crore, showing a rise of 5.34% from Rs 11,869.34 crore during the previous year. The group premium segment amounted to Rs 46,907.01 crore, compared to Rs 45,571.55 crore, reflecting an increase of 2.93%.
LIC issued a total of 30.43 lakh policies for the April-June 2025 period, down from 35.72 lakh in the same timeframe last year. The individual category policies accounted for 30.40 lakh, compared to 35.65 lakh in April-June 2024, with group policies totaling 3,848 against 6,531 during the previous year.
As per the Brand Finance India 100 2025 report, the public sector insurance giant, LIC, ranks fourth among India's top ten most valuable brands.
The report highlights that LIC's brand value for 2025 stands at $13.6 billion, marking a significant increase of 35.1% from $10.07 billion in 2024.
