Mumbai, Oct 22 (NationPress) Renowned figures Javed Akhtar and Lucky Ali have found themselves in a public dispute. Recently, Lucky Ali took to his X account, previously known as Twitter, to make a pointed comment about the esteemed screenwriter.
The controversy stems from a recently surfaced video of Javed Akhtar, in which he urges the Hindu community not to adopt hardline stances similar to those of the Muslim community. Known for his secular views, Javed frequently critiques traditional practices across all faiths that he believes are detrimental to society. He advocates for critical thinking and progressive practices that enhance societal well-being. However, his latest comments have sparked backlash from various groups.
In the resurfaced video, Javed states, "In ‘Sholay’, there was a scene where Dharmendra hides behind Shiv ji's murti and speaks, while Hema Malini thinks that Shiv ji is conversing with her. Is it feasible to write a scene like that today? Absolutely not. Were there no Hindus in 1975 (the year ‘Sholay’ was released)? Of course, there were dharmic individuals then. In fact, I’ve publicly stated before—Raju Hirani and I addressed a large audience in Pune, where I remarked, ‘Don’t become like Muslims; instead, aspire to be like yourselves. You’re starting to mimic Muslims.’ It’s a sad reality.”
The authenticity of the video and the event remains unclear, but Lucky Ali quickly retorted to Javed Akhtar's statement about Hindus not becoming like Muslims.
In his response, the singer remarked, “Don’t turn into Javed Akhtar; never be unoriginal and ugly as f***.”
Javed is no stranger to harsh critiques and often faces backlash from conservative factions within society, as well as from filmmakers like Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
