Key Takeaways
Bhopal, Jan 12 (NationPress) Bhopal has seen a significant declaration at the Madhya Pradesh Startup Summit and Ecosystem Awards 2026, hosted at Ravindra Bhavan.
The state of Madhya Pradesh has unveiled a bold initiative to boost its startup ecosystem from the existing 6,500 to 10,000 in just 18 months, highlighting its increasing influence in India's vibrant entrepreneurial space.
Raghvendra Kumar Singh, the Principal Secretary (Industry) of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME), emphasized that this summit was not solely a reflection of past successes but a strategic assembly to synchronize policy, administration, and entrepreneurship for future advancement.
He pointed out that India ranks as the third-largest startup ecosystem globally, with nearly 159,000 startups registered with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, more than 100 unicorns, and creating 1.6 million direct job opportunities.
Madhya Pradesh, he remarked, is already exceeding national averages, boasting around 3,100 women-led startups and is committed to further growth under the Madhya Pradesh Startup Policy 2025.
The Madhya Pradesh Startup Policy, 2025, provides extensive financial and infrastructural support, including a Rs 100 crore seed capital fund, grants up to Rs 30 lakh, interest subsidies, and subsistence allowances.
Women-led enterprises constitute 47% of the state’s startup ecosystem—three times the national average—while inclusive policies also support SC/ST entrepreneurs, incubation, and digital infrastructure.
“These grants are not merely aid but strategic economic initiatives aimed at integrating entrepreneurship into the mainstream,” Singh asserted, referencing successful enterprises in districts like Narmadapuram, Vidisha, and Harda.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav highlighted India’s heritage of innovation, recalling the groundbreaking contributions of Sir Jagdish Chandra Bose in fields such as plant sensitivity, microwaves, and semiconductors.
He commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his efforts in nurturing research and entrepreneurship, including initiatives launched from Indore in 2022.
Demonstrating local innovation, Chief Minister Yadav showcased a startup that has developed a low-cost machine capable of harvesting one acre of crops for just Rs 10 in an hour, tackling both agricultural and environmental issues.
“India, now the fourth-largest economy, is on the path to becoming the third and ultimately the first,” the Chief Minister confidently stated.
The summit reinforced Madhya Pradesh’s standing as a premier state in India’s startup hierarchy, with a vision to foster inclusive, future-ready growth and bolster India’s journey to becoming a global economic powerhouse.
