New Delhi, July 17 (NationPress) The leader of the Maharashtra Congress Legislative Party (CLP), Vijay Wadettiwar, stated on Thursday that he had not received any notification from either the party's high command or the state unit chief regarding his lack of opposition to the Maharashtra Special Public Security Bill, which was recently passed in the Assembly.
In a conversation with reporters, Wadettiwar explained that he was absent from the Assembly during the introduction of the controversial bill, which prevented him from expressing dissent and establishing the party's stance.
Under scrutiny from within the party, Wadettiwar mentioned that he was allegedly issued a notice by the Maharashtra Congress chief, following directives from the upper echelons, requesting an explanation for the lack of protest against the public security bill.
“I was unaware when this bill would be presented. I had no information on July 9. On that day, I was scheduled to travel to Delhi. Had I been present, I would have vehemently protested against it. But how can I comment now, given my absence?” he conveyed to the media.
Nonetheless, he asserted that Congress MLAs had devised a plan to oppose the bill, but he was unfortunately not given the chance to speak in the Assembly.
