Mumbai, July 30 (NationPress) In a significant move aimed at elevating the standards of education in Maharashtra, the state School Education Department has entered into two Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with Khan Academy and Sri Sri Rural Development Trust on Wednesday.

The signing took place under the watchful eye of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who was joined by School Education Minister Dadaji Bhuse, Minister of State for School Education Dr. Pankaj Bhoyar, and Minister of State for Agriculture Ashish Jaiswal, among other dignitaries.

CM Fadnavis remarked: "These MoUs mark a vital step towards fostering enthusiasm for education among students and equipping them adequately. In partnership with Sri Sri Rural Development Trust, a contemporary, experience-oriented education framework will be established across 150 schools in the state. Through Khan Academy, a premier educational program in both Marathi and English will be developed, named after the esteemed scientist Dr. Jayant Narlikar."

He expressed confidence that this initiative would cultivate high-quality students and motivate other educational institutions.

CM Fadnavis highlighted: "Sri Sri Rural Development Trust has previously made remarkable contributions to the Maharashtra government, particularly in water management and agriculture. Their involvement in the education sector will create a new benchmark."

According to the MoU, the Sri Sri Rural Development Trust, which operates under the Art of Living, will initially implement modern and experiential education in 150 schools in collaboration with the School Education Department. A comprehensive pre-inspection of the schools and a school development plan will be formulated.

This initiative aligns with the 'School Complex' concept outlined in the National Education Policy, encompassing Model Schools, PM Shri, and CM Shri Schools. With a focus on infrastructure, teacher and student capacity building, and community engagement, Sri Sri Rural Development Trust aims to transform the educational landscape, as stated in the government release.

Moreover, as part of the MoU with Khan Academy, the Dr. Jayant Narlikar Mathematics and Science Study Enrichment Programme will be rolled out.

The goal is to bolster the comprehension of mathematics and science subjects for students from 1st to 10th grade.

This educational program will be accessible in both Marathi and English. Khan Academy, a globally recognized organization, empowers students to learn at their own pace and boasts over 10,000 educational videos.

The MoU will be in effect for a duration of 3 years, with implementation overseen by the State Institute of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), as per the government release.
