Mumbai, Jan 25 (NationPress) On the occasion of Republic Day, the Centre has recognized 14 distinguished individuals from Maharashtra with the prestigious Padma awards.
The late Manohar Joshi, former Lok Sabha Speaker and Maharashtra Chief Minister, along with the celebrated playback and Fazal singer, the late Pankaj Udhas, received the Padma Bhushan award posthumously.
Additionally, twelve individuals have been honored with the Padma Shri award. This impressive list features Calligrapher Achyut Palav, former SBI chairperson Arundhati Bhattacharya, veteran actor and Maharashtra Bhushan Ashok Saraf, renowned classical singer Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande, prominent actor Shekhar Kapur, forest conservator Chaitram Pawar, veteran singer Jaspinder Narula, naturalist and wildlife conservationist Maruti Chitampalli, veteran flautists Ronu and Ranendra Bhanu Majumdar, agricultural expert Subhash Sharma, painter Vasudev Kamat, and senior homoeopathy expert Dr. Vilas Dangre.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis extended his congratulations and best wishes for the future endeavors of all awardees.
“Each recipient has significantly contributed to their fields, enhancing their respective sectors' reputation. This is truly inspiring,” he remarked.
Fadnavis highlighted that Chitampalli and Dr. Dangre hail from Nagpur, specifically from the Vidarbha region.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and DCM Ajit Pawar also expressed their congratulations to all awardees, emphasizing the honor this brings to the state.
