Kolkata, Oct 27 (NationPress) On the occasion of Chhath Puja this Monday, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, urged the citizens to foster communal harmony and reinforce unity during the celebration of all religious festivals.
“I wish all individuals happiness, prosperity, and good health during this time. Our state has a rich tradition of celebrating all religious festivals together, and I pledge to uphold this legacy of cultural and religious unity,” the Chief Minister stated while addressing attendees during the Chhath Puja festivities on Monday afternoon.
She also emphasized the need for caution regarding potential stampedes amid the celebrations.
“The challenge is in managing the crowds to ensure everyone returns home safely. Continuous monitoring of the holding areas is essential. One group should wait while another performs the puja. Following this guideline is crucial to prevent any unfortunate incidents,” she added.
The state government has announced state holidays for both Monday and Tuesday in honor of Chhath Puja.
“People celebrate this occasion with their families, which is why we have instituted state holidays for these two days, allowing everyone to participate in the festivities. The administration is on high alert to prevent any law and order issues during the festival,” she mentioned.
Additionally, she encouraged volunteers to remain vigilant.
“Should any issues arise, they must be addressed immediately, and the public should be informed as needed. Volunteers, police, health departments, municipalities, and firefighters are collaborating to ensure that the festival proceeds without a hitch,” the Chief Minister remarked.
