Manipur Government Unveils 7% DA Increase for State Employees

Imphal, Dec 31 (NationPress) The government of Manipur has made an announcement on Tuesday regarding a 7% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for over one lakh employees across the state.
During the announcement, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh stated that the Dearness Allowance for government workers will rise from 32% to 39%, effective from January 1, 2025.
This increase in DA will benefit over one lakh government staff in the state.
Additionally, the Chief Minister mentioned that approximately 500 youths will receive residential skill training in Delhi aimed at securing positions as cabin crew with Air India and Indigo. The financial support for this training will be provided by the Ministry of Tourism, with priority given to those displaced by ethnic violence.
Starting from January 2025, the government also plans to offer 23 essential cancer medications free of charge at all district hospitals.
Moreover, the Chief Minister disclosed plans to establish a society dedicated to managing Model Residential Schools to ensure their effective operation, delivering quality and affordable education in minority regions.
Currently, 13 model residential schools are under construction in 11 districts as part of the PMJVK Scheme.
The Chief Minister’s College Students Rehabilitation Scheme will be extended for another year to assist internally displaced persons (IDPs). Additionally, the Chief Minister has launched the Chief Minister’s Coaching Scheme to prepare students for entrance exams in professional courses such as engineering (JEE) and medical (NEET), empowering Manipuri students to gain admission into these fields.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister announced the development of a Polo Ground with seating arrangements at Ibudhou Marjing, with a budget of Rs 30 crore, the development of Langthabla Konung with an estimated cost of Rs 25 crore, and the Maharaja Gambhir Singh Museum, which has a projected cost of Rs 40 crore.
