The polling process proceeded without incident, with voters describing arrangements as orderly and hassle-free.

Turnout Trend Through the Day

Voting picked up steadily as the day progressed. The constituency logged 6.06 per cent turnout by 10 am, rising to 14.27 per cent by 12.30 pm before reaching 21.66 per cent by 2 pm. Polling is scheduled to continue until the official closing time, with vote counting set for 3 August.

Voters who turned out in the morning hours reported minimal waiting and smooth facilitation. 'I have cast my vote today. There was hardly any crowd in the morning, and the arrangements were very good. I did not face any inconvenience,' one voter said. Another added, 'Voting for the by-election began early this morning. I came here at 7 am and cast my vote.'

Why the Bypoll Was Called

The seat fell vacant following the death of veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator and former minister Yogesh Patel, who had represented the Manjalpur constituency. The bypoll is a direct contest between the BJP and the Indian National Congress (Congress).

The BJP has fielded Satish Patel, a former Vadodara Municipal Corporation councillor and former BJP Vadodara district president. The Congress has nominated Bhikha Rabari, the party's Gujarat vice-president and a former state minister.

Voter Profile and Accessibility Measures

A total of 2,19,494 voters are eligible to vote in this bypoll, comprising 1,11,645 men, 1,07,847 women, and two third-gender voters. The electoral roll also includes 1,634 Persons with Disabilities (PwD), 1,406 senior citizens aged 85 years and above, and 12 centenarian voters.

Ahead of polling day, 107 electors — including 90 senior citizens — exercised their franchise from home through the ballot paper facility. Voting is being conducted across 260 polling stations at 62 locations, all equipped with ramps, drinking water, electricity, and toilets.

Two polling stations are managed entirely by women personnel, two by PwD staff, and five have been designated as model polling stations.
