Sukma (Chhattisgarh), September 1 (NationPress) In a significant advancement in the ongoing anti-LWE efforts in the Sukma district, security personnel detained three Maoists possessing explosive devices near the village of Pentapad within the jurisdiction of the Chintagufa police station.
The arrests were executed as part of a coordinated operation involving the Chintagufa police and members of the 50th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), stationed at Dabbakonta.
Based on reliable intelligence received on August 31, 2025, a specialized team was constituted under the guidance of Inspector Govind Yadav, Station House Officer (SHO) of Chintagufa police station, alongside forces from the district police and CRPF Inspector Bijendra Mohan Singh of C/50 Battalion.
The team, joined by Assistant Commandant Rakesh Singh and personnel from D/50 Battalion CRPF, initiated a search operation in the vicinity of Pentapad and Entapad.
While patrolling a forest path adjacent to Pentapad, the team intercepted and detained three individuals suspected to be Naxals, who were found carrying explosive materials.
Upon questioning, the detained individuals were identified as: Podiyam Joga (25), son of Podiyam Raja – a militia member from Burkalanka, Chintagufa, Sukma; Madvi Masa (25), son of Madvi Somda – a militia member from Burkalanka, Chintagufa, Sukma; and Pojja Madvi (29), son of Ayata Madvi – a militia member from Burkalanka, Chintagufa, Sukma.
All three are affiliated with the prohibited Maoist organization and were reportedly involved in local militia activities.
The following explosive items were confiscated from their possession: one tiffin bomb (weighing approximately 2–3 kg), five electric detonators, five gelatin rods, five meters of cordtex wire, ten meters of electric wire, and four pencil cells.
During the interrogation, the suspects admitted that the explosives were meant to be deployed against security forces at an opportune moment.
A case has been registered against them at Chintagufa Police Station under Crime No. 09/2025, invoking Sections 4 and 5 of the Explosive Substances Act.
The three suspects were officially arrested on August 31 and presented before the Special Court on September 1, 2025. After being remanded to judicial custody, they were transferred to jail.
