MP CM Mohan Yadav pushes farmer welfare outreach under 2026 campaign
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Friday, 4 July 2025, directed state officials to maximise the enrolment of eligible farmers in government welfare schemes through direct outreach, as he reviewed progress under the state's 'Farmers' Welfare Year-2026' campaign at a high-level meeting in Bhopal. The Chief Minister stressed that the campaign's success would hinge on how effectively schemes reached farmers at the ground level across the state.
Key Directives from the Chief Minister
Chairing the review at the Mantralaya, Yadav called for mission-mode implementation of all agriculture-related schemes, with a clear focus on reducing farming costs and raising farmer incomes. 'Effective implementation of all schemes in mission mode must be ensured to reduce farming costs, increase farmers' income and make agriculture more profitable. The maximum number of eligible farmers should be linked to government schemes through direct engagement, and the cultivation of low-water-consuming crops, as well as natural and organic farming, should be encouraged,' he said.
He also directed officials to actively promote sustainable farming practices and improve overall agricultural productivity across Madhya Pradesh.
Push for Dairy Expansion and Livestock Access
To strengthen allied agricultural sectors, the Chief Minister instructed officials to expand dairy infrastructure and improve farmers' access to quality livestock. 'To boost milk production, high-breed cows should be made available to farmers with the support of private entities, and dairy centres should be expanded in rural areas,' Yadav stated. The move signals an intent to diversify farmer income beyond crop cultivation alone.
Digital Initiatives for Cooperative Societies
Yadav further directed officials to complete the digitisation of cooperative society processes and ensure the timely rollout of an online Kisan Credit Card portal and an e-passbook facility. These steps are aimed at reducing paperwork delays and improving scheme delivery to farmers who depend on credit access during sowing seasons.
Upcoming Agricultural Events
The Chief Minister also reviewed preparations for a Vegetable Festival and an Aquaculture Marketing Symposium in Indore, directing officials to ensure their smooth organisation. Agriculture Minister Aidal Singh Kanshana and senior state officials attended the meeting, briefing Yadav on ongoing programmes under the Farmers' Welfare Year-2026 campaign, including efforts to improve technology adoption, market linkages, and scheme delivery. With the campaign in full swing, the government's ability to translate these directives into measurable outcomes for farmers across Madhya Pradesh will be closely watched in the months ahead.
