Indore, Jan 13 (NationPress) The government of Madhya Pradesh is set to host a remarkable five-day initiative named Krishi Lokrang from January 26 to 30 throughout the state, aimed at encouraging modern agricultural techniques among the youth in farming, as announced by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Tuesday.
During a review of the event preparations, the Chief Minister emphasized that the programme will be conducted with utmost respect and grandeur in every Gram Panchayat and Block.
Yadav instructed officials to devise a comprehensive strategy to promote the collection and preservation of indigenous seeds through competitive initiatives within villages. Furthermore, he urged them to disseminate successful agricultural business models to farmers.
In addition, Yadav revealed plans to establish a dedicated agriculture cabinet aimed at enhancing the agriculture-based industries within the state.
“Alongside initiatives such as farmers’ welfare and agriculture Gram Sabha, we will also organize buyer-seller conferences and celebrate agricultural festivals,” he shared on X following the meeting.
This announcement comes just two days after Yadav officially inaugurated the Agriculture Year 2026, also referred to as Kisan Kalyan Varsh, with an impressive tractor rally and a state-level event at Jamburi Maidan in Bhopal on Sunday.
While addressing the gathering, Yadav pointed out that Madhya Pradesh is the sole state where the cultivated area has expanded by 2.5 lakh hectares despite the challenges posed by urbanization, industrial growth, and infrastructure advancements.
He emphasized that farmers’ incomes would increase through a collaborative approach involving 16 departments linked to agriculture.
Additionally, the Chief Minister indicated that farmers would have ownership opportunities through partnerships in future food parks and processing facilities, with procurement options available from departments such as animal husbandry and cooperatives, particularly for vegetables.
A detailed event calendar for the year was presented, showcasing activities such as bonus distributions for kodo and kutki in February, natural farming seminars in March, a mango festival in Narmadapuram in May, a Farmer Producer Organisation convention in Indore in August-September, workshops on agricultural infrastructure in Chhindwara, food festivals in October and November, and a sugarcane festival in Narsinghpur.
