Bengaluru, Nov 13 (NationPress) The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), headquartered in Bengaluru, has issued a show cause notice to the Al-Falah School of Engineering and Technology located in Fatehpur, Haryana, for falsely claiming and promoting that the colleges affiliated with the University hold NAAC accreditation.

Al-Falah University, a private establishment situated approximately 27 km from the Haryana-Delhi border along Raga Road, District Faridabad, Dhauj, has gained significant media attention recently due to alarming incidents, including the recovery of substantial explosives and a blast near the historic Red Fort in Delhi, resulting in 12 fatalities and numerous injuries, which has unsettled the nation.

In light of these violations, Prof. Ganesan Kannabiran, the Director of NAAC, has formally addressed the Registrar of Al Falah University, questioning why the University should not face disqualification for future Assessment and Accreditation (A&A) considerations by NAAC.

Additionally, the University has been instructed to eliminate any references to NAAC accreditation from its website and to withdraw any related publicly accessible documents, with a report required back to NAAC confirming compliance.

The University has a deadline of 7 days to respond upon receiving the show cause notice.

In the notice, Prof. Ganesan Kannabiran pointed out that the Al-Falah School of Engineering and Technology, located at Fatehpur, Raga Road, District Faridabad, Dhauj, Haryana, was accredited by NAAC with a Grade 'A' and CGPA of 3.08 out of 4.00 from March 23, 2013, to March 22, 2018.

Furthermore, the Department of Teacher Education at Al-Falah School of Education and Training also received a Cycle-1 accreditation from NAAC with a Grade 'A' and CGPA of 3.16 out of 4.00 from March 27, 2011, to March 26, 2016. Both colleges' accreditation statuses have since expired.

Moreover, it is noted that neither college has volunteered for the Cycle-2 A&A process of NAAC.

The notice elaborates that Al-Falah University, which is neither accredited nor has volunteered for Cycle-1 A&A, has misleadingly stated on its website that it is an initiative of Al-Falah Charitable Trust, which operates three colleges on campus, including Al Falah School of Engineering and Technology (established in 1997, graded A by NAAC), Brown Hill College of Engineering and Technology (established in 2008), and Al-Falah School of Education and Training (established in 2006, graded A by NAAC).

This information is incorrect and misguiding to the public, particularly parents, students, and stakeholders.

Consequently, the Executive Committee (EC) of NAAC has resolved to issue this show cause notice, questioning why appropriate actions, including legal measures, should not be initiated against Al-Falah University.

Questions raised include: Why should the University not be disqualified for future A&A by NAAC? Why should NAAC not recommend to the UGC to revoke Al-Falah University's recognition under sections 2(f) and 12B of UGC? Why should NAAC not suggest to the NMC to withdraw recognition from Al-Falah University's NMC recognized programs? Why should NAAC not recommend to the NCTE to retract recognition from Al-Falah University's NCTE recognized programs?

The notice also inquires why NAAC should not advise the State Government (Government of Haryana) to take suitable actions against Al-Falah University and why NAAC should not recommend to the AICTE to withdraw recognition from Al-Falah University's AICTE recognized programs.

In the interim, the University is required to remove all NAAC accreditation references from its website and any other public documents, reporting back to NAAC on compliance. The University has a 7-day window to respond to this show cause notice.

It is worth mentioning that recent days have seen police teams visiting the Al-Falah University campus in Dhauj, Faridabad, interrogating up to 52 doctors as part of their investigation. Authorities aim to gather information regarding Dr. Muzammil Shakeel, Dr. Shaheen Shahid, and Dr. Umar Mohammed — individuals suspected of operating a Jaish-e-Mohammed terror module.

Investigators have revealed that this group had amassed a substantial stockpile of explosives and was allegedly planning major attacks in Delhi. This same module is thought to be linked to a recent car explosion in Old Delhi.

The university has refuted these allegations, branding them as misleading and asserting that they are false and defamatory.

The management insists that the university has no ties to the suspects aside from their professional associations. Furthermore, the university's statement has clarified that there are no suspicious chemicals present on its premises, contrary to certain reports.
