New Delhi, Jan 26 (NationPress) India marked its 76th Republic Day on Sunday with impressive celebrations at Kartavya Path in New Delhi. The parade and tableaux highlighted the country's advancements, cultural richness, and military prowess, placing a strong focus on Nari Shakti (women empowerment).
Among the remarkable features was the all-female marching unit of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), commanded by Assistant Commandant Aishwarya Joy M.
The 148-member contingent, which includes women soldiers engaged in anti-Naxal, anti-insurgency, and law-enforcement efforts across the nation, symbolizes the essence of women's empowerment.
The tableau presented by the Ministry of Women and Child Development emphasized maternal care, life cycle continuity, and women's leadership, illustrating the journey of a girl from childhood to becoming an empowered, self-sufficient woman.
The Delhi Police All-Women Band, led by Band Master Ruyangunuo Kense, also drew attention during the festivities. Participating for the second consecutive year, the band featured four women Sub-Inspectors and 64 women constables from the Delhi Police Brass and Pipe Band.
The tableau from the Ministry of Rural Development highlighted the empowerment of Indian women through the Lakhpati Didi Yojana.
The Republic Day event was presided over by President Droupadi Murmu, who unfurled the national flag at Kartavya Path, accompanied by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, the chief guest of this year's celebration.
In a revival of tradition, both Presidents were escorted to Kartavya Path in a Traditional Buggy by the President's Bodyguard, Rashtrapati ke Angarakshak, the oldest regiment of the Indian Army. This practice was reintroduced after 40 years.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed President Murmu and President Subianto at the event, alongside Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and his wife, Sudesh Dhankhar.
The ceremony began with the unfurling of the National Flag, followed by the National Anthem and a 21-gun salute using local 105-mm Light Field Guns.
This year's theme honored 75 years since the Constitution's enactment, highlighting Jan Bhagidari (public participation). The event illustrated India's cultural diversity, unity, and military strength, featuring over 300 cultural artists performing Sare Jahan Se Achha on traditional instruments such as Shehnai, Nadaswaram, Mashak Been, and Dhol.
Mi-17 1V helicopters from the 129 Helicopter Unit executed a stunning flower-petal shower in the Dhwaj Formation, symbolizing the national flag, led by Group Captain Alok Ahlawat.
