Mumbai, March 30 (NationPress) The head coach of the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders, Chandrakant Pandit, has announced that all-rounder Sunil Narine is fit again after his recent illness and will be ready for the upcoming match against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium on Monday.

Narine was absent during KKR's previous game against Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati due to health issues that arose on the morning of the match. His spot was taken by Moeen Ali, who played a key role in KKR's first victory of the season.

“I’ve been practicing diligently and always try to be prepared. I was informed this morning about Sunny’s health issues and needed to stay ready. It’s definitely challenging to fill in for Sunny, but I believe I performed well,” said Moeen reflecting on his unexpected debut this season.

“You simply wait for your opportunity, and when it arrives, you seize it. On certain pitches like today’s, I relied on my experience to keep things straightforward, maintain stump alignment, particularly against left-handers, and focus on spinning the ball,” he added.

In the opening match of the tournament against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Eden Gardens, Narine made a notable impact with a rapid 44 runs off 26 balls, including five fours and three sixes, alongside bowling figures of 1-27 in four overs.

“He (Narine) is currently training with the rest of the squad at Wankhede,” KKR stated on Saturday.

Narine is expected to be included in KKR's playing eleven for the match against Mumbai. The team, led by Hardik Pandya, is looking to bounce back after suffering their second defeat of the season against Gujarat Titans by 36 runs on Saturday.

The five-time champions aim to make a strong comeback in their first home game of the season on Monday.
