Patna, Nov 7 (NationPress) Sanjay Kumar Jha, the national working president of the JD(U) and a member of the Rajya Sabha, stated on Friday that the unprecedented voter turnout during the first phase of polling for the Bihar Assembly elections is a clear indication of public endorsement for the NDA.
He noted that the participation of women voters was notably high this time, signifying their confidence in the initiatives led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
The initial phase of the Bihar Assembly elections registered a remarkable voter turnout of 64.66 percent, marking the highest participation rate in the state's electoral history.
"The turnout observed on Thursday during the first phase of polling signifies an overwhelming wave of support for the NDA. The significant participation of women is a testament to Nitish Kumar's effective governance in areas like education, health, and women's empowerment," he emphasized.
Jha also shared that reports from JD(U) candidates indicated that the NDA is poised to achieve a substantial victory in the elections.
He pointed out that voters have prioritized development and stability over caste and religion.
In response to Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi's comments, which claimed that there has been no progress for women in the past two decades and accused the government of electoral bribery, Jha retorted, "Priyanka Gandhi is unaware of the true situation in Bihar."
Emphasizing a silent revolution taking place in Bihar, he highlighted initiatives like reservations for women in panchayats, the Kanya Utthan Yojana, bicycle schemes, nutrition programs, and self-help groups as examples of women-oriented policies under CM Nitish.
Jha further asserted that the electorate in Bihar is now more informed, casting their votes based on logic and achievements rather than emotions.
As the voter participation surged, political factions interpreted the trend differently; the JD(U) claims it favors the NDA, while opposition parties argue it reflects public discontent.
The final outcome will be revealed once the results are announced.
The second phase of polling is set for November 11, with results expected on November 14.
