New Delhi, July 6 (NationPress) Officials from the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) took significant steps on Sunday by addressing more than 120 grievances at a 'Suvidha Camp' held at the Convention Centre on Jai Singh Road, as stated by an official.
The primary objective of the Camp was to establish a direct connection between the NDMC administration and the citizens of New Delhi, ensuring quick resolution of public complaints, sharing of civic updates, and easier access to various municipal services.
During the Camp, senior officials managed to resolve grievances related to numerous departments, including Personnel, Civil Engineering, Horticulture, Public Health, Enforcement, Commercial, Tax, and Estate.
Hundreds of residents and service users also attended the Camp to gather information on NDMC's civic services and ongoing projects.
A standout feature of the Suvidha Camp was its face-to-face interaction format, allowing citizens to directly engage with department officials for instant resolution of their issues, according to the official.
For matters that needed policy-level attention, officials offered clarifications and provided expected timelines for resolution.
More than 100 officers and officials from 30 NDMC departments were present at the Camp, operating departmental help desks under the guidance of their respective department heads.
This collaborative strategy allowed for the efficient handling of most grievances on-site, demonstrating NDMC's commitment to responsive and transparent governance.
To enhance citizen convenience further, NDMC has also introduced the ‘Jan Suvidha Portal’, a digital platform designed for seamless, contactless grievance resolution. Citizens can submit grievances, monitor their status, and provide feedback through the portal available at: https://www.ndmc.gov.in/complaints.aspx
Earlier, NDMC's Kuljeet Singh Chahal announced that the civic agency had sanctioned the purchase of 5 eco-friendly CNG Mechanical Road Sweepers (MRS) to tackle dust pollution and improve cleanliness.
The current fleet of MRS machines, which has been in operation since 2017–18, has aged and is frequently out of commission, severely impacting NDMC's ability to achieve its daily cleaning target of 365 kilometres of roads, he noted.
Chahal explained that NDMC’s Swachhta Division actively monitors air quality and relays data to various agencies, including CPCB, DPCC, and CAQM. Under the guidelines of the National Green Tribunal, which bans new diesel vehicle registrations in Delhi, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has agreed to finance the procurement of these new CNG-operated sweepers.
The Council has approved a preliminary estimate of Rs 6.69 crore for the procurement through CPCB funding.
This will ensure uninterrupted mechanized sweeping, significantly reducing road dust and enhancing cleanliness in this VVIP zone of the capital, he added.
