Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, Dec 29 (NationPress) On Monday, the Telangana government undertook a significant reorganization of the existing three police commissionerates that serve Hyderabad and its surrounding areas, establishing a new commissionerate for the forthcoming Future City.
Hyderabad and Cyberabad will retain their current names, while the Rachakonda commissionerate has been rebranded to Malkajgiri.
Furthermore, the Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, which was previously under Rachakonda's jurisdiction, has been excluded.
This restructuring aligns with the broader reorganization of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and the ongoing development of Future City.
The state government indicated that the restructuring into four commissionerates aims to enhance public service delivery, strengthen law and order, and improve crime management.
Key sites including the Assembly, Secretariat, Begumpet, Shamshabad Airport, and the forthcoming High Court in Budvel will now fall under the jurisdiction of the Hyderabad Commissionerate.
Rapidly emerging IT hubs such as Gachibowli, Financial District, Nanakramguda, Madhapur, and Raidurg, along with industrial zones including Patancheru, Genome Valley, RC Puram, and Ameenpur, will be managed by the Cyberabad Commissionerate.
The Malkajgiri Commissionerate has been restructured to encompass areas like Keesara, Shamirpet, Quthbullapur, and Kompally.
The Bhuvanagiri region, previously under Rachakonda, will now operate as an independent police unit, with a Superintendent of Police to be appointed for Yadadri Bhuvanagiri.
Due to the rapid growth of Future City, a new commissionerate has been introduced, covering regions such as Chevella, Moinabad, Shankarpally, Maheshwaram, and Ibrahimpatnam.
On Monday, the government also issued appointments for Police Commissioners for the four commissionerates and a Superintendent of Police for Yadadri Bhuvanagiri.
Sudheer Babu, currently serving as Commissioner of Police for Rachakonda, has been reassigned as Commissioner of Police for Future City.
Avinash Mohanty, the Commissioner of Police for Cyberabad, will now take on the role of Commissioner of Police for Malkajgiri.
M. Ramesh, Inspector General of Police for Provisioning and Logistics, has been designated as Commissioner of Police for Cyberabad.
V. C. Sajjanar will maintain his position as Police Commissioner of Hyderabad.
On December 9, the state government unveiled the Telangana Rising – Vision 2047 report at the Telangana Rising Global Summit. This initiative aims to propel Telangana into a $3 trillion economy by 2047, with a strategic framework categorizing the state into three zones: CURE, PURE, and RARE, each focusing on targeted development plans.
As part of this initiative, legal changes were implemented to merge 27 municipalities within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) into the GHMC, thereby facilitating organized and integrated urban growth.
The GHMC area has been restructured into 12 zones, 60 circles, and 300 wards. In accordance with this, the government has decided to reorganize various departments, including the police.
