Hyderabad, March 7 (NationPress) The Telangana government has made the decision to develop Future City over an extensive area of 30,000 acres.
This ambitious project will be located between the Nagarjunasagar and Srisailam Highways, as confirmed during the recent State Cabinet meeting on Thursday.
The cabinet also resolved to establish the Future Development Authority (FCDA), which will encompass seven mandals and 56 villages.
During the Cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the transfer of 36 villages from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) to the FCDA was approved. Additionally, 90 posts for the FCDA, including both regular and outsourced positions, were sanctioned.
Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy briefed the media on the outcomes of the extensive Cabinet meeting held that evening.
The Cabinet also agreed to extend the HMDA limits up to the Regional Ring Road. The HMDA now spans 11 districts, 104 mandals, and 1,355 villages, with plans to include 332 revenue villages.
Discussions included the proposed delimitation of Parliamentary constituencies, with concerns raised about potential injustices to South India by the BJP.
An all-party meeting regarding the delimitation issue was agreed upon, aiming to urge the Centre to increase the number of Lok Sabha seats in South India.
The Cabinet approved a draft bill on the sub-categorization of Scheduled Castes (SC) based on recommendations from the Justice Shamim Akhtar Commission. The second report, submitted on March 2, reaffirmed the February 3 recommendations without changes, and the SC sub-categorization Bill will be presented in the upcoming Assembly session.
The Cabinet also decided to raise reservations for Backward Classes (BCs) in local bodies from 37% to 42%. A Bill was approved for this increase, as well as another Bill for 42% reservations for BCs in education and government jobs.
It was resolved to consolidate all Self-Help Groups (SHGs) under a single umbrella. The retirement age for SHG members will rise from 60 to 65 years, while the minimum age for joining SHGs will decrease from 18 to 15 years. The aim is to create one crore women lakhpatis.
A new tourism policy was approved, which will lead to the development of 27 special tourism zones. This initiative is projected to attract Rs 15,000 crore in investments over the next five years, generating approximately three lakh jobs in the tourism sector.
Moreover, the Cabinet announced that Telangana will host the 72nd Miss World, ensuring excellent hospitality and a seamless experience for all participants and guests. The event, spanning from May 7 to May 31, will take place across multiple locations in the state, showcasing Telangana's rich heritage, cultural vibrancy, and modern dynamism.
