Jaipur, Nov 4 (NationPress) In the aftermath of the devastating dumper accident in Jaipur that resulted in the loss of 14 lives, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has initiated stringent measures aimed at enhancing road safety across Rajasthan.

The Chief Minister has ordered the cancellation of the driving licenses of individuals caught operating vehicles while under the influence of alcohol and mandated rigorous enforcement against anyone breaching traffic regulations.

A comprehensive 'Road Safety Campaign' will commence across Rajasthan starting Tuesday, supervised collectively by the Transport, Police, and Public Works Departments.

This decision was reached during a high-level meeting led by CM Bhajanlal Sharma at his residence late Monday night. He stressed the importance of collaboration among all pertinent departments to ensure adherence to traffic laws and avert accidents.

District Collectors have been tasked with organizing regular meetings of District Road Safety Committees, and disciplinary measures will be enforced against officials who fail to execute timely actions.

CM Sharma has mandated strict actions against speeding, drunk driving, and vehicle overloading. Immediate removal of encroachments and illegal crossings along highways is also a priority.

He asserted that a zero-tolerance policy will be implemented, and departmental officers not taking prompt action will face repercussions.

Licenses of drivers repeatedly penalized for overspeeding or driving under the influence will be revoked.

The Chief Minister instructed authorities to swiftly address hazardous areas and eliminate unauthorized access points on national and state highways. Locations will be identified for establishing new rest facilities for drivers on the Jaipur–Kota, Jaipur–Delhi, Jaipur–Ajmer, and Jaipur–Bharatpur highways.

Additionally, CM Sharma directed the NHAI to eliminate unauthorized eateries, parking areas, and constructions along the Bharatmala and Delhi–Mumbai Industrial Corridor. Proper signage and reflectors are to be installed, particularly ahead of the foggy winter season. Furthermore, the Medical and Health Department has been instructed to bolster the emergency care infrastructure.

All accident victims must be transported using advanced life support ambulances, and eye examinations for truck drivers will be conducted from November 15 to February 15. Transport companies will be held accountable for mandating overtime driving, with severe penalties for violations.

The Transport Department has also been tasked with taking action against vehicles traveling on the wrong side of highways.

CM Sharma has directed district collectors and police superintendents to position interceptors on major routes to apprehend rule violators and to install railings at all unauthorized access points on busy highways.

Chief Minister Sharma reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing road safety in Rajasthan, asserting, "Our mission is to preserve lives by enforcing discipline on the roads. Those who jeopardize others through rule violations will face strict penalties."
