Jaipur, Aug 1 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Bhajan Lal Sharma, has instructed officials to urgently implement measures to optimize traffic flow in the city of Jaipur and devise a sustainable plan to meet escalating transportation needs.
During a crucial meeting at the Chief Minister's residence on Friday, he emphasized the importance of collaboration among the Home and Transport Department, Jaipur Development Authority (JDA), Urban Development and Housing Department, and the Autonomous Governance Department, ensuring a shared responsibility.
CM Sharma highlighted the necessity of increasing public awareness regarding traffic regulations and fostering a culture of responsible driving.
He urged officials to advocate for a stronger “traffic sense” among citizens and to strictly enforce traffic laws.
To enhance monitoring capabilities, he mandated the installation of advanced surveillance cameras in Jaipur, funded through the Rajasthan Transport Infrastructure Development (RTID) Fund. A centralized control room will be established to monitor traffic violations.
Pointing out the critical need to alleviate congestion, the Chief Minister called for the implementation of a one-way traffic system on major thoroughfares, incorporating feedback from local businesses and the public.
He also ordered the immediate relocation of designated auto and bus stands, emphasizing that bus services should commence from the Hirapura Bus Terminal post-monsoon.
Moreover, the Jaipur City Transport Services Limited (JCTSL) buses should operate efficiently from the newly situated bus terminals to facilitate seamless intra-city passenger movement.
Sharma further advocated for the construction of multi-level parking facilities at strategic locations across the city and instructed the JDA to create designated spaces for seized e-rickshaws while enforcing operational guidelines for e-rickshaw zones.
Considering the surge in vehicle numbers, he requested officials to identify major intersections and formulate an action plan for facilitating signal-free traffic flow.
The meeting included the participation of Chief Secretary Sudhansh Pant, Director General of Police Rajiv Kumar Sharma, and senior officials from relevant departments.
