Amaravati, Nov 7 (NationPress) N. Shree Charani, a key player from the 2025 women's cricket world cup-winning team, visited Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday.
Joined by former captain Mithali Raj, she met with the Chief Minister at his official residence.
The State Minister for Human Resources Development and Information Technology, Nara Lokesh, welcomed Shree Charani and Mithali Raj upon their arrival.
“Selfie with a spinner who made India a winner,” the Chief Minister posted on 'X'.
“Proud to host Indian women's cricket sensation Shree Charani and ex-captain Mithali Raj at our Amaravati residence,” Nara Lokesh shared on 'X'.
The Minister expressed that both he and the Chief Minister congratulated Shree Charani for India's remarkable Women's World Cup triumph. The Chief Minister remarked that by clinching the Women's World Cup, she has highlighted the strength of Indian women and has become an inspiration for aspiring female athletes.
“Her accomplishment truly embodies the resilience and determination of Indian women, and will motivate countless young athletes,” Lokesh added.
Shree Charani expressed her elation over the World Cup victory during her meeting with CM Naidu and Minister Lokesh.
Previously, the young cricketer received an enthusiastic welcome at Gannavaram Airport, Vijayawada, from Keshineni Chinni, President of the Andhra Cricket Association, along with Secretary Sana Satish, and Ministers Anitha, Savita, Sandhyarani, and Animini Ravi Naidu, Chairman of the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh.
Originating from Kadapa district in Andhra Pradesh, Shree Charani made her international debut in April and played her first World Cup.
The left-arm spinner claimed 14 wickets during the tournament, with a crucial breakthrough against South Africa, dismissing Anneke Bosch (0) lbw in the 12th over of the final.
Her stellar performance in the semifinal against Australia included taking two wickets for 49 runs in her 10-over spell.
Shree Charani, hailing from the small village of Yerramala Palle in Kadapa district, received training from her uncle Kishore Kumar Reddy, a part-time cricketer at the Rayalaseema Thermal Power Station.
