Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, Feb 27 (NationPress) Telangana's Chief Minister, A. Revanth Reddy, has instructed officials to draft a new Core Urban Act aimed at governing three corporations within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) limits, effectively replacing the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Act.
The proposed legislation is intended to streamline all matters related to permissions, fees, and management of development projects.
This directive follows the recent reorganization of the GHMC into three distinct corporations.
Two new entities, Cyberabad and Malkajgiri, have been established, while six of the original twelve zones under GHMC have been retained.
The Chief Minister emphasized that municipal works will be prioritized as part of the state's ambitious 99-day program.
During a review meeting on Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) held at the State Secretariat, he highlighted the critical need for sanitation improvements in the Core Urban Area.
He pointed out the issue of residents improperly disposing of waste in open areas due to the absence of designated disposal spots. He proposed identifying suitable garbage disposal sites and clearly marking them.
Furthermore, he insisted on taking strict action against individuals who continue to dispose of waste outside these designated areas.
The Chief Minister urged officials to ensure responsible practices in road construction within the Core Urban Area.
He recommended utilizing technology akin to that used in the Employment Guarantee scheme, which prevents roads from being relaid for a designated period post-construction.
Additionally, he stated that the longevity of constructed roads should be assessed, and accountability measures should be implemented if roads are relaid before their designated lifespan.
Every street light in the Core Urban Area should be monitored through a dashboard, enabling immediate identification and resolution of issues.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also underscored the significance of food safety within the Core Urban Area.
He mandated that all city hotels install CCTV cameras in their kitchens, linking them to the Command Control Centre for ongoing inspection and oversight.
He further proposed a rating system for hotels based on their adherence to food safety protocols.
Fire safety was another priority highlighted by the Chief Minister. Noting the ongoing construction of high-rise buildings exceeding 50 floors, he stressed the need for advanced fire-fighting equipment and technology.
He directed officials to ensure the timely completion of government office buildings within the Bharat Future City area and insisted on the immediate acquisition of all necessary permits.
Speeding up the construction of various government office buildings in Future City while maintaining quality standards was also emphasized.
Additionally, he instructed that essential measures be taken for the enhancement of significant lakes and ponds within the city.
