Lucknow, May 31 (NationPress) Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister and Nishad Party President Sanjay Nishad on Saturday criticized the Congress party, accusing it of functioning as the "spokesperson for Pakistan" following senior Congress MP Jairam Ramesh's comments regarding the recent Pahalgam terror attack.
Jairam Ramesh previously asserted that the ruling party was silent on critical issues raised by the Opposition and highlighted that the terrorists responsible for the Pahalgam attack were still “roaming free”. He also drew a comparison to parliamentary delegations that he claimed were also “roaming”.
In response to Jairam Ramesh's critique of the government's response, Sanjay Nishad stated, “The public has thrown the Congress out of power, and now they have nothing to do except issue statements. Had they accomplished anything meaningful, they would still hold power.”
“The statements made by the Opposition leader resemble those of a Pakistani spokesperson. It appears they have a greater affinity for Pakistan than for India. They show no regard for our armed forces and their courage. If they are aware of the terrorists' locations, they should alert the authorities so that appropriate actions can be taken. Sharing images raises the question of whether these terrorists are in communication with them. It is said that being aware of terrorism and choosing silence is also a crime. If they claim terrorists are at large, they should assist the nation by identifying them,” he told IANS.
Nishad also responded to Congress MP Shashi Tharoor’s recent remarks in Panama, where he mentioned India’s cross-border military operations. Tharoor stated, “For the first time, India breached the Line of Control to execute a surgical strike on a terror launch pad—the Uri strike in September 2016—it was unprecedented. During the Kargil War, we had not crossed the Line of Control.” Tharoor’s comments sparked backlash within his own party, with leaders like Udit Raj and Pawan Khera publicly dissenting.
In a jab at Congress, Nishad remarked, “The Congress was embroiled in the Bofors scandal. Their continuous criticism of our armed forces contributes to their decline. I believe the Congress lacks the moral authority to comment on the valor of our armed forces.”
He defended Operation Sindoor by saying, “India is a nation of peace, the land of Buddha. We do not seek war. However, in Operation Sindoor, no civilians were harmed—only terrorist locations were targeted. This is a victory for the armed forces. The global community, including the US, France, and Japan, is grappling with terrorism.”
