Hyderabad, March 21 (NationPress) The police in Hyderabad have successfully dismantled an international online gaming and satta betting operation, leading to the apprehension of five individuals.
The investigators from the Commissioner’s Task Force, Central Zone Team, in collaboration with the Madhura Nagar Police Station team, uncovered the illicit operation taking place from a rented apartment within the jurisdiction of Madhura Nagar Police Station.
The individuals taken into custody are Sonule Srikanth, Gurle Haris, Gurle Satish Kumar, Sonule Thirupathi, and Ade Vinod, all originally from Kagaz Nagar in Kumaram Bheem Asifabad district.
As per Deputy Commissioner of Police Y.V.S. Sudheendra, the offenders, who are friends, have been orchestrating the betting through online platforms. They were managing the registration procedures for victims on their gaming websites. Additionally, the group was opening bank accounts and acquiring SIM cards in the names of impoverished individuals in exchange for money.
The perpetrators controlled the accounts used for transferring funds from the victims. They initially enticed victims by promising small profits. However, as the investment amounts grew, victims began to incur losses due to the manipulation of the gaming sites by the accused.
Authorities confiscated three MAC books, one tablet, two color printers, Satta and Matka betting pamphlets, betting charts, 18 mobile phones, ₹1.55 lakh in cash, and ₹2.13 lakh in bank accounts.
The accused have completed education up to the intermediate level and are primarily carpenters by trade. They had a penchant for betting on Satta and Matka.
In pursuit of quick profits through online gaming and Satta/Matka betting, they rented a residential flat in Madhura Nagar, Hyderabad, three months prior to conduct their operations. They established an online betting YouTube channel to ensnare bettors who are inclined towards online wagering.
The gang produced fake videos portraying themselves as successful bettors, asserting that they were reaping significant rewards from minimal investments while praising the betting site. These fabricated videos were shared with potential victims to entice them into making large investments in betting.
The group accepted online payments from bettors, initially providing small returns to build trust, only for victims to later suffer substantial losses due to the group's deceitful practices.
