Robert Pattinson Admits to Childhood Lie About His Dad Being Michael Jackson
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Los Angeles, March 22 (NationPress) Actor Robert Pattinson, preparing for the launch of his new film ‘The Drama’, revealed that he once faced consequences for claiming his father was Michael Jackson.
During his school days, Pattinson showcased a track by the legendary pop icon, who passed away in June 2009 at the age of 50, during a show and tell session. He mischievously told his classmates that it was his father, Richard, singing because he had been taking a supplement called ginkgo biloba, according to reports from ‘Female First UK’.
While appearing on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’, the 39-year-old actor confessed that lying was a childhood habit. He stated, "I thought it was something I only did as an adult, especially during interviews, but I often got into trouble for it.”
When Jimmy, aged 58, inquired about the trouble he faced, Robert responded, “I got in trouble at school. I claimed my dad was Michael Jackson during show and tell. Do you know about ginkgo biloba? I always liked the name of those pills. My parents were both taking it, and I had recorded a tape of Michael Jackson's album, saying, 'My dad's been taking this medicine called ginkgo biloba, and this is him singing.' I ended up in a lot of trouble for that.”
According to ‘Female First UK’, Jimmy joked that Robert could now lie frequently about Santa Claus, the tooth fairy, and the Easter Bunny to his two-year-old daughter, whose name has not been disclosed, alongside his wife, actress Suki Waterhouse.
However, Robert believes his daughter will easily see through his fabrications. He remarked, “I don’t think she’ll buy it. Already, she seems to read me very well.”
Jimmy suggested that the actor’s daughter might possess a talent for lying herself. Robert shared, “She seems to lie to herself effortlessly. She walks into a room and says, 'I see… a giraffe!' And I'm like, 'You do?' It's incredibly convincing. Either she's got a sixth sense or she's quite the fantasist.”
In 2022, Robert had also mentioned how he deceived his classmates by claiming he was “importing drugs on floppy disks” to impress older children at school.
