New Chandigarh, April 19 (NationPress) The Punjab Kings, in top form, have successfully continued their unbeaten streak in IPL 2026, securing a decisive 54-run victory against the Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday. After posting an impressive total of 254/7, Marco Jansen led the bowling attack with figures of 2-37, while Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Vijaykumar Vyshak each contributed with a wicket, keeping PBKS firmly at the summit of the points table.

Openers Priyansh Arya (93 off 37 balls) and Australian left-hander Cooper Connolly (87 off 46 balls) were instrumental in setting a formidable target, while the PBKS bowlers executed a disciplined performance, restricting LSG to 200/5, despite a few lapses in the field.

For LSG, the chase of 255 proved to be a daunting challenge as they tried a new opening partnership with Mitchell Marsh and Ayush Badoni. The pair managed to put together a solid 61-run partnership, but it fell short of the required pace.

Following this, Marsh and Pant attempted to accelerate the scoring rate, with the LSG captain launching Jansen for back-to-back sixes. However, Chahal's introduction tightened the grip, yielding only 20 runs across overs 9-11, and he dismantled the second-wicket partnership when Marsh misplayed a flighted delivery to long-on.

Pant continued his aggressive approach, hitting Chahal for consecutive sixes in the 12th over, but he was dismissed shortly after for a brisk 43 when he attempted to slice a wide yorker from Arshdeep, resulting in a catch behind, confirmed by UltraEdge.

The chase effectively concluded there, as Nicholas Pooran's struggles persisted with a dismissal for nine, misplaying a knuckleball from Jansen. Markram (42) and Mukul Choudhary (21 not out) entertained the crowd with a flurry of boundaries, aided by three dropped catches from PBKS in the final overs, but the outcome was inevitable in favor of the hosts.
