PM Expresses Condolences Over Fatal Jaipur Highway Incident; Ex-Gratia Announced for Victims' Families

Jaipur, Dec 20 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his deep sorrow regarding the tragic loss of lives in the devastating accident that occurred on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway in Rajasthan. He announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh for the families of the deceased, sourced from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund, and Rs 50,000 for each injured victim.

In his statement, he remarked, "I am profoundly saddened by the loss of lives in the accident on the Jaipur-Ajmer Highway. My heartfelt condolences go out to those mourning their loved ones. I wish a speedy recovery to the injured. The local administration is providing support to those impacted. An ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh will be allocated to the next of kin of each deceased individual, along with Rs 50,000 for the injured."

It is crucial to highlight that this tragic event took place on Friday morning on the Ajmer Highway, resulting in the loss of eight lives and injuring over 30 individuals, due to a collision between an LPG gas tanker and a truck.

The collision led to a significant explosion and fire, engulfing the area in flames, causing injuries to more than 35 people.

A sleeper bus carrying 34 passengers caught fire, resulting in 20 passengers suffering severe burns, while 14 others, including the driver and conductor, are unaccounted for.

The inferno sparked by the explosion produced towering flames that tragically burned several birds nearby.

Numerous vehicles on the highway, including the bus and a truck, were consumed by the fire. The extreme heat even melted a bike rider's helmet, causing severe burns to his face and eyes.

The accident unfolded on Friday morning near Delhi Public School, following a catastrophic collision between an LPG (BPCL) tanker and a truck.

Eight individuals lost their lives in the fire, with 35 others sustaining burn injuries.

Even hours post-incident, local residents reported experiencing suffocation and eye irritation due to the residual effects of the blaze.
