Prime Minister Expresses Condolences for Fatal Jaipur Accident; Announces Compensation for Victims' Families

Jaipur, Dec 20 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives in a catastrophic accident on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway in Rajasthan. He announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh for the families of those who perished, sourced from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund, along with Rs 50,000 for each person injured.
In his heartfelt message, he stated, "I am deeply saddened by the loss of lives in the accident on the Jaipur-Ajmer Highway in Rajasthan. My condolences go out to the families who have lost their dear ones. I wish a speedy recovery to the injured. The local authorities are providing necessary assistance to those affected. An ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF will be allocated to the families of each deceased individual, and the injured will receive Rs 50,000 each."
It is important to note that a tragic event occurred on Friday morning at the Ajmer Highway in Jaipur, resulting in the deaths of eight individuals and leaving over 30 injured due to a collision between an LPG gas tanker and a truck.
The impact of the collision led to a significant explosion and fire, engulfing the surrounding area in flames and injuring over 35 people.
A sleeper bus carrying 34 passengers caught fire; among them, 20 suffered severe burns, while 14 others, including the driver and conductor, remain unaccounted for.
The flames from the explosion reached towering heights, resulting in the unfortunate demise of numerous birds in the vicinity.
Several vehicles on the highway, including the bus and a truck, were consumed by the fire. The extreme heat caused a motorcycle rider’s helmet to melt and adhere to his face, leading to severe eye injuries.
This tragic accident transpired on Friday morning near Delhi Public School, following a devastating collision between an LPG (BPCL) tanker and a truck.
In total, eight people were burned alive, while 35 others sustained burns.
Even hours after the incident, local residents reported feelings of suffocation and eye irritation due to the aftermath of the fire.
