LPG Tanker Explosion in Rajasthan; Chief Minister Sharma Declares Rs 5 Lakh Compensation
Jaipur, Dec 20 (NationPress) Rajasthan's Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma declared an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh for the families of those who lost their lives in the LPG tanker explosion that tragically claimed nine lives.
In this incident, over 35 individuals sustained serious injuries and were receiving treatment at Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital.
Numerous leaders, including President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, expressed their condolences over the loss of life.
Both PM Modi and CM Sharma have pledged financial support for the victims’ families.
The Prime Minister announced Rs 2 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for each injured person from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund.
CM Sharma extended Rs 5 lakh to the families of those who died and Rs 1 lakh for the injured, directing officials to guarantee proper medical care for the victims.
PM Modi communicated with Rajasthan's CM to offer assistance following the tragic fire incident in Jaipur, officials confirmed.
Dr Sushil Bhati, Superintendent of SMS Hospital, reported that the initial number of patients was low but quickly increased.
"Out of the 42 patients admitted, nine have unfortunately succumbed to their injuries. Among those hospitalized, 10 to 12 patients have burns covering over 60 percent of their bodies, and six remain on ventilators," he stated.
Dr Deepak Maheshwari, Principal of SMS Medical College, verified that 43 individuals were brought to the hospital.
"Nine fatalities have been confirmed thus far, including one at Jaipuria Hospital. Fifteen patients sustained burns exceeding 50 percent, and 28 are currently undergoing treatment," he added.
However, unverified reports suggest that the death toll may have risen to 10.
The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. near Bhankrota on the Jaipur-Ajmer Highway, in front of Delhi Public School.
Reports indicate that an LPG tanker collided with a truck during a U-turn, causing a massive explosion.
The resulting fire engulfed the tanker and the truck, spreading to over 40 nearby vehicles.
