Rajasthan: LPG Tanker Explosion Claims 12 Lives; CM Sharma Initiates Investigation (Night Ld)

Jaipur, Dec 20 (NationPress) The death toll from the tragic explosion of an LPG tanker close to Jaipur has now reached 12, while at least 33 others have been injured, according to an official report on Friday. Most of the injured are dealing with serious burn injuries.

The incident took place around 5:45 a.m. on Friday when a Bharat Petroleum tanker, traveling from Ajmer to Jaipur, attempted a U-turn. Unfortunately, it collided with another truck coming from the Jaipur direction, leading to a massive fire.

Eyewitness accounts described scenes of panic as flames erupted, forcing people to abandon their vehicles and flee. Tragically, many were trapped and could not escape the blaze.

Others were seen running on the road with their clothes on fire, while some attempted to extinguish the flames.

The fire spread quickly, consuming more than 40 vehicles.

A sleeper bus following the tanker and a nearby pipe manufacturing facility were completely engulfed by the raging fire.

Sadly, the main exit door of the bus was jammed, leaving 34 passengers trapped inside. Rescuers faced challenges but managed to pull survivors through the driver's door.

Nineteen passengers from the bus suffered severe burns, and several fatalities have been reported.

The remains of the deceased were later collected and taken to the hospital once the fire was extinguished.

Local residents were quick to assist the injured, providing help before emergency services, including fire brigade, police, and ambulances, arrived.

The victims were transported to Sawai Man Singh Hospital, located approximately 15 km from the accident site.
