New Delhi, Nov 28 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his warm and inspiring sentiments to India’s first-ever T20 World Cup-winning Blind Women’s Cricket Team during their visit to his residence at Lok Kalyan Marg.

He welcomed the players and coaching staff, presenting them with the World Cup trophy, and had a delightful interaction with captain Deepika and her teammates.

In a personal touch, he hand-fed sweets to each member of the victorious squad and shared a light-hearted moment with them.

During the meeting, PM Modi expressed his appreciation for the players, stating, “Those who strive and progress will find their efforts rewarded, not only on the pitch but in life as well.”

The Indian team presented the Prime Minister with a signed bat as a token of gratitude.

He further commented on how the team's achievement has bolstered their self-esteem. “Your self-assurance must have soared… In the past, you might have felt shy talking to your teacher, but now you’re conversing with the Prime Minister,” he noted with a grin.

PM Modi shared his pride in meeting the players, emphasizing that their success represents India’s swift advancement and the valor of its youth. “Every time I meet you, I feel a sense of pride—witnessing our nation’s progress and the bravery displayed by our young athletes,” he remarked.

In a humorous moment, PM Modi likened their competitive spirit to the electoral process, saying, “Just as in elections when an opponent's deposit is lost, you all defeated some teams in just 10 overs. What makes you so fierce?” This elicited laughter among the players.

The team made history by clinching the inaugural Blind Women’s T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka, triumphing over Nepal by seven wickets in the final match. Remarkably, India was unbeaten throughout the tournament.

Earlier, PM Modi lauded the Indian team for their remarkable feat on X, saying, “Kudos to the Indian Blind Women’s Cricket Team for making history by winning the first Blind Women’s T20 World Cup! It’s impressive that they remained undefeated during the tournament.

“This is a landmark sporting accomplishment, a brilliant showcase of diligence, teamwork, and resolve. Every player is a champion! I wish the team all the best in their future pursuits. This achievement will motivate future generations.”
