New Delhi, April 20 (NationPress) On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent heartfelt birthday greetings to Andhra Pradesh's Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu, highlighting that under his guidance, the state is achieving remarkable progress in various sectors.

Modi shared his wishes on the social media platform 'X', stating, "Best wishes to Andhra Pradesh’s dedicated Chief Minister and my esteemed friend, Shri Chandrababu Naidu Garu. Under his leadership, Andhra Pradesh is reaching new levels of advancement across multiple domains. I wish him a long and healthy life dedicated to serving the populace."

Chandrababu Naidu’s political career spans several decades, showcasing both resilience and strategic brilliance. As a graduate of Sri Venkateswara University in Tirupati, he began his journey with the Indian Youth Congress in the 1970s. He swiftly gained prominence, winning his first Assembly election from Chandragiri in 1978 and taking on significant roles in the state cabinet. Originally a Congress member, Naidu transitioned to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), founded by actor-turned-politician N.T. Rama Rao, amid political turmoil in the early 1980s.

Naidu was instrumental in fortifying the TDP, especially during times of internal struggle. In 1995, he assumed leadership of the party and became the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. His administration represented a pivotal shift towards economic reforms, technological innovation, and enhanced administrative efficiency. Renowned for his corporate-style governance, he earned the moniker of a “CEO CM,” concentrating on attracting investments and modernizing infrastructure.

Among his significant achievements is the transformation of Hyderabad into a prominent information technology hub, placing it on par with cities like Bengaluru. Under his direction, the state experienced rapid advancements in the IT, pharmaceuticals, and education sectors. His reform-oriented strategies garnered international acclaim, receiving accolades on global platforms such as the World Economic Forum.

Naidu’s political journey has not been without challenges. The TDP lost power in 2004 and faced another significant defeat in 2019 against Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. Despite these setbacks, Naidu has remained a pivotal political figure, working to rebuild his support base and continuing to impact both state and national politics.

After the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in 2014, Naidu encountered the daunting task of establishing a new capital and rejuvenating the state’s economy. He proposed Amaravati as the capital and initiated ambitious development plans, although these faced various financial and political obstacles. His term also included tensions with the central government concerning issues like special category status, leading to a temporary estrangement from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in 2018.

In recent years, Naidu’s political fortunes have seen a resurgence. After navigating legal challenges and a brief imprisonment in 2023, he regained public favor. In the upcoming 2024 elections, he effectively led an alliance with the BJP and Jana Sena Party, achieving significant victories in both the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. His national role has also gained prominence, positioning him as a crucial ally within the NDA government.
