New Delhi, June 5 (NationPress) On the celebration of World Environment Day, which occurs annually on June 5, Prime Minister Narendra Modi planted a Sindoor sapling at his official residence located at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg on Thursday.
A group of courageous women, who had displayed extraordinary bravery during the 1971 India-Pakistan war, met PM Modi during his recent visit to Kutch and gifted him Sindoor saplings.
During the intense 1971 conflict, bombings by enemy aircraft rendered the Bhuj airstrip unusable, prompting 300 women in Gujarat to risk their lives to assist in its reconstruction within a mere 72 hours, enabling India to commence its air strikes.
At an event in Bhuj on May 26 this year, PM Modi had the opportunity to engage with 13 of these remarkable women, fondly referred to as 'Viranganas.' They blessed him and offered several Sindoor saplings.
Moved by their kindness, PM Modi vowed to plant the Sindoor saplings at his official residence.
Staying true to that promise, he planted a Sindoor sapling at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg on Thursday.
