Poonch, March 5 (NationPress) In a remarkable initiative aimed at advancing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of enhancing farmers' incomes, the District Development Deputy Commissioner of Poonch, Vikas Kundal, launched two Automatic Milk Collection Units (AMCU) on Wednesday.
The facilities, developed under the Dairy Development program, are designed to strengthen the dairy sector in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district.
The inauguration occurred in Tehsil Haveli, featuring one unit at the Khanetar Dairy Cooperative Society Kanuiyan Poonch and the other at the Sai Baba Self Help Group, Bandi Chechian Poonch. The event was graced by Sheikh Mohammad Younis, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Poonch, along with Vikas Kundal, who ceremoniously cut the ribbon to commemorate the event.
Vikas Kundal underscored the significance of this initiative, commending local dairy farmers and self-help groups for their commitment. He stressed that establishing these units represents a substantial stride towards fulfilling the Prime Minister’s objective of boosting farmers' income and enhancing milk production, thereby uplifting rural livelihoods.
Vikas Kundal further stated that milk, being a perishable commodity, demands adequate storage and quality control.
"We have supplied equipment and fertilizers to ensure milk quality is maintained. Our goal is to store milk for extended periods, aligning with the Prime Minister’s vision of doubling farmers' income," he remarked.
Haji Barf Din, the head of the unit, expressed his appreciation for the establishment of these facilities in Poonch, a remote border area. He noted that the automatic collection system would guarantee the safety of milk and its products for up to 48 hours.
"I want to extend my thanks to PM Modi. We've eagerly awaited this development. However, a challenge we face is the lack of necessary licenses and dealerships. If granted, we could import cattle from Haryana. With these resources, we can enhance our situation and strive to eradicate poverty," he concluded.
