Ahmedabad, Oct 14 (NationPress) In a spectacular homage to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday, the renowned Riverfront in Ahmedabad became a focal point for an unprecedented initiative during “Vikas Week” (Development Week).
To commemorate this remarkable event, over 75,000 postcards were creatively arranged to form a massive 75 lakh-shaped model, symbolizing both national pride and gratitude for the Prime Minister’s guidance.
The initiative transcended mere symbolism — it was a historic endeavor. The Guinness World Records team was on-site to validate the extensive display and active participation, paving the way for a potential world record in public expressions of gratitude.
According to Mitesh Pandya, Registrar of the Cooperative Societies, the initiative aimed to empower citizens, especially those directly benefiting from various government initiatives, to express their appreciation.
“Starting September 17, cooperative societies throughout Gujarat encouraged individuals who benefited from GST reductions, the Swadeshi movement, and other government-driven development schemes to write postcards to Prime Minister Modi,” he stated.
The response has been extraordinary. Currently, over 1 crore 11 lakh (11.1 million) citizens across Gujarat have sent handwritten postcards to PM Modi, conveying their heartfelt thanks. These postcards are not just supportive messages but also evidence of how government initiatives have positively influenced daily lives — from tax reductions and infrastructure development to job creation and the promotion of indigenous products.
The Riverfront event was meticulously designed to visually represent the participation scale, with tens of thousands of postcards forming a large design visible from a considerable distance.
Organizers assert that this is merely the beginning, as postcard collection and public engagement will continue throughout the week.
The Guinness team is currently verifying the submissions to officially recognize it as a world record for the largest number of handwritten postcards sent to a head of state.
As Gujarat leads the way in celebrating development and leadership, “Vikas Week” serves as a luminous tribute to a decade of transformative governance.
