Bhubaneswar, Feb 4 (NationPress) President Droupadi Murmu emphasized on Wednesday that the Union government is dedicated to enhancing the economic status of tribal communities, particularly the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).
During a special event at Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University in Odisha's Rairangpur, situated in the tribal-heavy Mayurbhanj district, President Murmu outlined various initiatives introduced by the Union government aimed at uplifting tribal populations nationwide.
The President inaugurated the Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University Information Technology Campus and laid the groundwork for numerous projects, including the AYUSH Hospital-cum-Ayurvedic College, Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology campus, an archery center, city beautification and drainage improvement projects, an auditorium and cultural center, a girls' hostel, and a de-addiction facility at Rairangpur.
In her address, President Murmu stated, "The objective of elevating the most impoverished can only be realized through the advancement of the tribal community. The Union government is tirelessly ensuring that tribal populations benefit from all welfare and developmental initiatives."
She highlighted the government’s commitment to the economic advancement of tribal individuals, stating, "The provision of minimum support price (MSP) for over 90 minor forest products via the Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Yojana, loans to tribal self-help groups through the Micro Credit Scheme, and low-interest loans for Scheduled Tribe women under the Tribal Women Empowerment Scheme exemplify our dedication. We're also striving for improved health and educational services."
Additionally, she mentioned the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri-JANMAN Yojana for the welfare of PVTGs.
"Electricity has been extended to tribal-dominated regions, and 4G internet connectivity is now accessible in remote locales. These efforts are fostering comprehensive development in tribal areas," President Murmu affirmed.
On this occasion, she also pointed out that the Purvodaya vision of the Union government prioritizes Odisha’s development, with Mayurbhanj district reaping substantial benefits from this vision.
Meanwhile, Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi remarked that the land, whose daughter is the President, will never be overlooked.
He further added that since President Droupadi Murmu assumed the role of the 'First Citizen' of the nation, the residents of Mayurbhanj have been assured of development.
