President Droupadi Murmu celebrated her 68th birthday on Saturday, 20 June, drawing warm greetings from political leaders across India, including Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, who praised her extraordinary journey from a tribal village in Odisha to Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel posted his birthday message on social media platform X, describing President Murmu's rise as a source of inspiration for millions. 'Your life journey, rising from a humble background to the highest constitutional office in the country, and your dedication to democratic values, are an inspiration to crores of Indians, especially the tribal community and women power,' Patel said.

Patel added that he prayed to Lord Jagannath to bless the President with good health, a long life, and boundless energy to continue serving the nation.

Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi also extended his wishes, highlighting her perseverance and commitment to public service. 'Your inspiring journey, defined by humility, resilience and dedicated public service, continues to motivate millions across the nation. Wishing you good health, happiness and many more years of service to the country,' Sanghavi said.

A Historic Presidency

President Murmu assumed office as India's 15th President on 25 July 2022, becoming the first tribal person and the second woman to hold the country's highest constitutional post. Before her elevation to Rashtrapati Bhavan, she served as Governor of Jharkhand from 2015 to 2021 and had earlier served as a minister and legislator in Odisha.

Birthday Coincides With Major Odisha Programme

The President's birthday fell on a particularly significant day, with President Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to make a rare joint appearance in her home state of Odisha to launch and inaugurate development projects worth more than ₹47,600 crore.
