Mumbai, July 17 (NationPress) Music composer Pritam, known for his work on ‘Metro...In Dino’, revealed that his formative years were significantly influenced by the iconic English rock band Pink Floyd.
In a recent interview with IANS, he expressed his deep affection for the album ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ by Pink Floyd.
Pritam shared, “I was captivated by Pink Floyd. Along with Queen, their albums shaped my childhood. I really appreciate the intricate delays in their guitar tones. The legacy of Pink Floyd is carried on by U2 and Coldplay, who explore similar soundscapes.”
He added, “That style of rock resonates with me, especially alternative rock and psychedelic genres. Whenever I create music, those psychedelic elements emerge naturally. Pink Floyd has become a close companion for me, especially ‘Dark Side of the Moon’, which I consider my dearest friend.”
Pritam also noted that while he goes through various musical phases, Pink Floyd remains his ultimate favorite.
He remarked, “I have experienced phases with artists like BB King and Ali Farka Toure, who is a remarkable Afro Blues guitarist. I discovered Ali Farka Toure during my time at the Film Institute. Musicians often find themselves enamored with different artists at different times. The Beatles were my first love in school, while Queen took hold of me in college. I must have purchased 4-5 cassettes of ‘Night of the Opera’ and listened to it countless times.”
Currently, the soundtrack of ‘Metro...In Dino’ is making waves, topping charts with a diverse collection of tracks.
