New Delhi, July 17 (NationPress) The Punjab BJP Working President, Ashwani Sharma, met with the party's National President, Jagat Prakash Nadda, on Thursday to strategize about upcoming initiatives aimed at the comprehensive development of the state.
Sharma expressed on social media platform X, "Nadda-ji's profound insights have consistently inspired us and will fortify the Punjab BJP even further." He took charge of the party in the state on July 13.
On the day he assumed his role, Sharma launched a fierce critique against Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, accusing him of running a “circus” instead of an effective government over the past three years.
He challenged why CM Mann, despite calling for a special Assembly session on sacrilege, failed to uphold Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal's promise made on January 12, 2022, to ensure justice in sacrilege cases, including those in Bargari, via expedited courts.
Sharma claimed that to distract from AAP's unfulfilled election promise to eliminate drugs within 30 days of taking power, CM Mann initiated 'Yudh Nshe Virudh' as a diversion.
In another instance, Sharma noted that when an AAP MLA alleged Raghav Chadha had connections to the drug trade, CM Mann attempted to divert attention by proclaiming this so-called 'war' on narcotics.
Sharma also accused CM Mann of orchestrating a “circus” around corruption to deflect from the lack of action against four senior Congress leaders he implicated in graft during the Punjab Assembly.
At 61, Sharma is a seasoned leader, having served as State BJP President twice: from February 2010 to January 2013 and from January 2020 to July 2023.
He issued a firm warning to the government, stating, “The Punjab BJP will respond in the same tone CM Mann uses, but four times louder, on the streets.”
