New Delhi, July 14 (NationPress) The Ministry of Railways has refuted as false and misleading various reports suggesting that India has opted against operating the Japanese bullet train on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route.
In a fact-check concerning these 'fake news' claims, the Ministry clarified that no decision has been made to dismiss Japanese technology.
“Certain articles and social media posts allege that the Ministry of Railways has chosen not to run the Japanese bullet train on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route. This assertion is misleading! The Railway Ministry has made no such decision,” the statement read.
The Ministry emphasized that in alignment with the strategic partnership between India and Japan, the Government of Japan is set to introduce the next-generation E10 Shinkansen trains for this initiative.
It's important to highlight that the E10 will be launched simultaneously in both India and Japan, the Ministry noted.
“The entire 508-kilometre corridor is being constructed using Japanese Shinkansen technology, which is establishing new standards in speed, safety, and reliability,” the Ministry stated.
Previously, the Ministry shared updates on the inauguration of the first segment of the 21-km undersea tunnel connecting BKC (Bandra Kurla Complex) and Thane.
In its statement, the bullet train project recently marked a significant milestone by completing 310 km of viaduct construction.
“Track laying, installation of overhead electrical systems, stations, and bridges is advancing swiftly. Construction activities in Maharashtra have also gained momentum. Concurrently, progress on system procurement for operations and control is proceeding well,” the Ministry disclosed.
In the spirit of strategic alliance between Japan and India, the Japanese government has consented to introduce E10 Shinkansen trains in the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet train project.
Civil construction is progressing rapidly along the alignment. Approximately 310 km of viaduct has been built. Fifteen river bridges have been finished, while four are in the advanced stages of construction. Of the 12 stations, 5 are complete, and 3 more are nearing completion.
“The BKC station is an engineering marvel. It will be situated 32.5 m below ground, with the foundation designed to support a 95-meter structure above ground,” the Ministry added.
