Agartala, July 14 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, emphasized on Monday that the progress of the nation is inherently linked to the upliftment of the Janajati (tribal) community.
Speaking at the District Level Mega Campaign for Dharti Aaba Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan in the Belbari Rural Development Block of West Tripura, he revealed that he has contacted Union Home Minister Amit Shah to address the challenges faced by the Reang tribals in the state.
“If we fail to advance the lives of the marginalized communities, then national development remains unattainable. Since 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been dedicated to the welfare of the Janajati people. Our President hails from the Janajati community, and a Janajati leader from Tripura’s royal lineage serves as Governor in Telangana. These advancements are the result of PM Modi’s initiatives,” stated the Chief Minister.
CM Saha further remarked: "What PM Modi pledges, he delivers, and the populace takes pride in having such a leader. He is committed to fortifying the nation and securing a promising future for upcoming generations."
He highlighted that the public has witnessed the prevalence of corruption prior to 2014, mirroring similar issues in Tripura before 2018.
Without directly naming any political group, the Chief Minister noted that previous governments exploited the Janajati community for electoral gains.
"The BJP government prioritizes the well-being of the people and the empowerment of the Janajati community, promoting self-sufficiency," he said, adding, “The way PM Modi engages with citizens through Mann Ki Baat is unparalleled in the global political arena.”
“As public representatives, we must remember our duty to serve the people. We have numerous beneficiary schemes that must be effectively implemented, and PM Modi personally monitors their progress,” he added.
CM Saha noted that the state government in Tripura is rolling out various beneficiary schemes, including access to drinking water, hostels for Janajati students, tribal multipurpose marketing centers, and land pattas.
Under the Dharti Aaba Jan Bhagidari initiative, 779 Gram Panchayats and Village Councils will benefit, involving 20 departments in this effort, he announced.
He underscored the neglect of the Reang tribals by the previous Left Front government and pointed out the significant strides made by the BJP since 2018 to enhance their living conditions.
“I recently met with the Reang tribals and learned about their concerns. I have reached out to the Home Minister to ensure these issues are addressed,” he concluded.
During the event, notable figures including Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy, Tribal Welfare Minister Bikas Debbarma, West Tripura District Magistrate Vishal Kumar, and Tribal Welfare Secretary K. Sashikumar were present.
