Mumbai, July 14 (NationPress) A thorough plan is set to be developed for enhancing road safety across the state, with various upgrades funded by the road safety fund, as stated by Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik on Monday.
During a meeting focused on several issues within the transport department, he mentioned that to ensure prompt assistance after highway accidents, air ambulance services will be initiated, alongside the deployment of vehicles outfitted with vital medical equipment.
The minister also assessed the actions taken in response to concerns about City Flow and other app-based buses transporting illegal passengers. He emphasized the need for strict measures against illegal taxi and bus operations.
“There are no restrictions on passenger transport as per current regulations. An independent agency will be appointed to deliver precise and comprehensive data on road safety. This agency will identify accident-prone zones, leading to the implementation of necessary measures,” he elaborated.
Moreover, Minister Sarnaik remarked that the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), a state-run entity, serves as the 'mother organization' for approximately 83,000 employees.
“The state transport bus services will never undergo privatization, thus employees should disregard such rumors,” he urged.
As the MSRTC chairman, Sarnaik acknowledged the diligence of ST employees.
“The ST administration has a moral obligation to ensure that employees have access to essential facilities at their workplaces. Hence, the driver-conductor rest house and associated toilets must be maintained in a clean condition,” he asserted.
He highlighted that the government will soon engage a private sanitation firm, which will not only clean the rest house but also provide services for washing and ironing uniforms for employees.
“Additional arrangements will be made for grooming services for employees, including beard and haircuts. By addressing employees’ fundamental needs in this manner, a supportive psychological environment can be fostered, positively influencing their performance and productivity,” concluded Minister Sarnaik.
