Mumbai, July 14 (NationPress) Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has instructed the administration to evaluate a location in Dapchari, situated in Palghar district, for the establishment of the Mahamumbai International Agricultural Market.
He also emphasized that a proposal should be presented for the formation of a state-level cadre of secretaries aimed at enhancing the Agricultural Produce Market Committees across the state.
These directives were made during a meeting focused on the creation of the Mahamumbai International Agricultural Market.
CM Fadnavis stated that various departments, including Marketing, Revenue, and Animal Husbandry, should conduct a comprehensive survey to facilitate the establishment of the Mahamumbai International Agricultural Market.
A state-level cadre of secretaries will be instituted to empower the 305 agricultural produce market committees statewide.
Due to space constraints for agricultural produce market committees in certain districts, the relevant district joint registrar is required to submit a proposal to the District Collector.
During the meeting, Marketing Minister Jayakumar Rawal noted the intent to develop a Mahamumbai International Agricultural Market modeled after the Rungis International Market.
Currently, discussions are ongoing regarding the location for the Mahamumbai International Market, with numerous international companies expressing their interest in participating in this initiative.
Representatives from globally recognized markets, including the Rungis Market, have shown willingness to collaborate with the state government in establishing this market.
This international market aims to enhance the distribution of agricultural products both domestically and internationally, as highlighted by Marketing Minister Rawal during the meeting.
The meeting also reviewed critical issues such as enhancing agricultural marketing facilities, including a multi-model hub in Bapgaon, Thane district, and initiating an agricultural marketing facility project in Kaldongri, Nagpur district, fortifying the Agricultural Produce Market Committee in the state, establishing one agricultural produce committee per taluka, and launching a modern orange processing center.
